Softball to Open B1G Tournament with Ohio State

ROSEMONT, ILL.-- The Rutgers softball team has earned the No. 11 seed in the 2016 Big Ten Softball Tournament and will face the No. 6 seed Ohio State on Thursday, May 12 at noon, the league announced Sunday.
The tournament will be hosted by Penn State at Beard Field in University Park, Pa. with all contests televised live on Big Ten Network.

It marks RU's second straight trip to the Big Ten tournament and the third consecutive season the Scarlet Knights have advanced to its conference tournament. Last year, Rutgers capped off its inaugural year in the league with the No. 7 seed in the 2015 Big Ten Tournament. RU's postseason run was halted with a loss in a 5-3 showdown with No.10 seeded Iowa.
The Scarlet Knights concluded the 2016 regular season campaign with an overall record of 24-32 and a conference mark of 8-15. Ohio State ended its year with an overall mark of 32-17-1 and a league record of 13-9-1.
The winner of the game will go on to meet No. 3 seed Northwestern on Friday, May 13 in a 12 pm matchup.
