PISCATAWAY, N.J. - For the 10th consecutive year, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and Zag Sports named the Rutgers women's lacrosse team an Academic Honor Squad. The Scarlet Knights are one of 276 schools across the Division I, II, III and NAIA level to earn the recognition, which honors programs that posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
"It is always gratifying to be recognized for hard work, particularly in the classroom," said head coach Laura Brand-Sias. "Our focus on academic success continues, and this award is a testament to the dedication and hard work by our student athletes, staff, and coaches."
Rutgers women's lacrosse has thrived in the classroom during Brand-Sias' tenure. During the spring, the NCAA recognized the program for its continued academic achievement by awarding RU an Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award for the fifth-straight year. In the latest APR reports, Rutgers women's received a perfect score of a 1000.
In addition to the high APR scores, 15 members of the team were named Academic All-Big Ten following the 2016 season.
