PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse head coach
Laura Brand Sias announced Monday that
Christine DiLullo,
Alana Navaroli and
Kerri Puckhaber will serve as team captains for the 2018 season.
Both Navaroli and Puckhaber played in all 16 contests for the Scarlet Knights last spring, while DiLullo missed last season due to injury. The trio will help RU in their fourth season in the Big Ten Conference.
"These three players provide our team with a great mix," Brand Sias said. "Their personalities and roles on the team complement each other perfectly and I look forward to their continued leadership throughout the year."
RU's 2017 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient, Navaroli appeared in all 16 games for the Scarlet Knights last season, which included 13 starts. Navaroli finished with 51 draw controls to lead the program in that category and averaged 2.7 draw controls per game in Big Ten contests, good for seventh in the conference. The Skaneateles, New York, native etched her name in the Rutgers record book, setting the single-season program mark for draw controls in a game with 12 against Manhattan last March.
Puckhaber also appeared in 16 games last spring with 13 starts. The Wantagh, New York, native finished 2017 with 22 points, which included 12 goals and 10 assists. Her 12 helpers were third on the team last season, as the versatile player also contributed eight ground balls, four caused turnovers and four draw controls for Rutgers.
DiLullo missed the entire 2017 season due to injury, but has appeared in 32 games for the Scarlet Knights in her career. In 2016, the Marlton, New Jersey, native made 18 starts as a defender, as she registered 14 ground balls and four caused turnovers on the year.
Rutgers finished 8-8 during the 2017 season, which included a 2-4 mark in Big Ten Conference play. The Scarlet Knights recorded a ranked victory over then-No. 18 James Madison and collected wins against Ohio State and Michigan during the spring.
