Murphy Named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – For the second straight week, redshirt junior goalkeeper Casey Murphy was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Murphy picked up her 13th shutout of the season with a three-save effort in the 1-0 road win at Indiana on Saturday.
The Bridgewater, New Jersey, native is tied for the nation lead in shutouts, while leading the Big Ten and ranking in the top five in GAA (0.28) and save percentage (.915). Overall, the goalkeeper owns 42 career shutouts, which ranks second in the Rutgers record books and third in Big Ten history.
The recognition marks Murphy's fifth Big Ten weekly honor of the season and 10th of her career.
Murphy and the Scarlet Knights are set for the regular season finale with Michigan at home on Wednesday. Match time is set for 4 p.m. live on Big Ten Network.
