Men’s Hoops Hosts Cleveland State Tuesday Evening
Nov 13 | Men's Basketball
PISCATAWAY - Rutgers welcomes Cleveland State to the RAC on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tip-off. It marks the third game in five days to begin the 2017-18 season. The Scarlet Knights will be working to improve to 11-0 under head coach Steve Pikiell in non-conference home games. RU is plus-24 in rebounding margin and will be looking to even the all-time series with CSU to 1-1 after a 78-69 loss at the RAC on Jan. 15, 1980 in the only prior meeting.
Rutgers graduate students with ID will receive complimentary admission to the contest and the Irish Step Dancing Club will perform at halftime.
Tuesday's game will be televised live nationally on BTN, with Jason Horowitz calling the action and Bob Wenzel providing the analysis. On the radio, the contest will be broadcast live on the Rutgers IMG Sports Network, WOR 710 AM in New York and WCTC 1450 AM in New Brunswick. Jerry Recco will serve as play-by-play announcer and Joe Boylan will provide commentary. WRSU (88.7 FM) will also broadcast the game.
Mike Williams scored 23 points off the bench to help Rutgers to a 71-67 win over CCSU Sunday afternoon at the RAC. Eugene Omorouyi added a career-best 13 points in a reserve role. Williams was 5-of-10 shooting, and a career-best 10-of-12 at the charity stripe with four steals, to provide the essential spark to turn the game in the home squad's favor. It was the first contest of the season for the senior guard, who missed Friday's victory over CCNY with a right knee injury. Omoruyi was 6-of-12 from the field. The sophomore grabbed seven rebounds and had two blocks in 23 minutes.
Under the leadership of first-year head coach Dennis Felton, Cleveland State suffered a 67-57 loss at Akron on Saturday in its season opener. Felton has 10-plus years of head coaching experience, including five years at Western Kentucky and five-plus seasons at Georgia. The Vikings returns three starters and eight letterwinners from last season's 9-22 team. CSU was picked 9th in the Horizon League's Preseason Poll.
Single game tickets are available online or by calling the Rutgers Ticket Office at 1-866-445-GORU. Fans also have the opportunity flex ticket plans, which enable them to select any four games from the home schedule to create their own package. Flex ticket plans are $140 for 200 level center tickets, $120 for 200 level wing tickets, and $60 for 300 level tickets.
