Delaware Tops Women's Lacrosse Saturday in Newark

NEWARK, Del. - The Rutgers women's lacrosse team lost to Delaware, 17-5, Saturday afternoon at Delaware Stadium. Redshirt junior attacker Nicole Kopyta led the Scarlet Knights with a career-high three goals on four shots.
The game was delayed for an extended period due to lightening in the area, officially concluding four hours and 25 minutes after opening draw. Goalkeepers Bianca Dente and Devon Kearns both saw time in cage for the Scarlet Knights (2-2).
Also scoring for RU was senior captain Amanda Turturro and sophomore Abbey Brooks.
Delaware was led by Christine Long, who paced all scorers with four goals. Two other Blue Hens - Becky Gohsler and Sydney Rausa - recorded three goals apiece, while Gohsler added three assists for a six-point day.
RU is back at High Point Solutions Stadium on Wednesday, March 1 against No. 10 Penn. Opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m.
