Women's Lacrosse Hosts No. 1 Maryland

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's lacrosse (7-5, 1-1 Big Ten) closes out its four-game homestand Saturday when it hosts No. 1 Maryland (12-0, 2-0 Big Ten) at High Point Solutions Stadium. Opening draw is slated for 7 p.m. with the game broadcast on BTN Plus.
Prior to Saturday's game, five seniors - Kristina Dunphey, Ryann Hogan, Macy Scott, Amanda Turturro and Delaney Tuite - will be honored for their contributions to the program during their careers.
The Scarlet Knights will also celebrate 40 years of competition in 2017 and welcomes back alumnae, former coaches, and fans to honor this achievement on Saturday. Prior to the game, the program will hold a special gathering on campus and invite past members of the program to watch RU battle the Terrapins.

Scouting Maryland
The Terrapins enter Saturday's game after it outlasted No. 18 Virginia, 16-11, Wednesday night in Charlottesville. Caroline Steele scored a career-high five goals and added two assists to help keep Maryland undefeated on the season.
Megan Whittle leads the Terrapins with 44 points (37g, 7a) this season, while Zoe Stukenberg has also eclipsed the 40-point mark with 41 (28g, 13a) in 12 games. Caroline Wannen leads MU in assists with 18 helpers.
Maryland is the top offense in the Big Ten this season, averaging 16.4 goals per contest. Maryland also leads the conference with 266 points in 12 games and owns a .482 shot percentage as a team.
Julia Braig and Nadine Hadnagy anchor the Terrapin defense with 16 and 15 caused turnovers, respectively. Stukenberg leads MU with 23 ground balls.
Megan Taylor has started 11 contests between the pipes for Maryland and has contributed a .590 save percentage in 598 minutes played. Taylor also has 118 saves and a 8.22 goals against average.
The Series
Rutgers is 0-17 all-time against Maryland, with the school's first meeting on the field in 1979. The Scarlet Knights met the Terrapins twice last season, including in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
Dunphey's on Fire
Kristina Dunphey has provided Rutgers with an offensive spark recently, collecting 15 goals in her last six games. Her scoring streak includes back-to-back hat tricks against Niagara and Ohio State, along with her five-goal outing on March 15 against Manhattan. Dunphey now has 113 points during her RU career, good for 17th all-time "On the Banks".
Spark off the Bench
Nicole Kopyta, who has started just one game this season, has produced multiple goals in nine contests and is second behind Dunphey at 21 goals. Rutgers is 7-4 this year when she finds the back of the net.
Navaroli Draws Control
With her 12 draw controls on March 15 against Manhattan, junior Alana Navaroli produced the single-game draw control record. The previous program mark was 10 by Ali Steinberg on April 3, 2010. Navaroli now has 38 draw controls on the season to lead RU.
