Benintente Signs with Sky Blue FC

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Cassidy Benintente, a former defender for the Rutgers women's soccer program, has signed with Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the professional team announced Wednesday.
The Jackson, New Jersey, native competed for Rutgers from 2012-15. Benintente is reunited with former Scarlet Knights Erica Skroski and Madison Tiernan, a group that helped guide RU to its first-ever trip to the NCAA College Cup in 2015.
Benintente saw action in 45 total games as a Scarlet Knight, including 25 matches during the historic run in 2015. She was a force in the stellar back line that set the program record for 19 shutouts in a single season. The team also registered a program-high 770:16-minute opponent scoreless streak that same year.
After a trip to FC Kansas City this Sunday, Benintente and Sky Blue will host the Washington Spirit on Sunday, Sept. 10 at Yurcak Field. Match time is set for 6 p.m. ET.
