Soles4Souls Drive Collects 330 Pairs of Shoes

Student-Athletes Donate Shoes For Children In Need
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Last month, Imani Beauliere of Rutgers women's track and field orchestrated a shoe drive for Soles4Souls, inviting the Rutgers community to donate shoes and clothing to help those in need. This drive collected a total of 330 pairs of shoes for the organization.
Soles4Souls is a non-profit global social enterprise committed to fighting poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing to individuals, schools, local churches, orphanages and more. The organization creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. Since 2006, Soles4Souls has distributed 30 million pairs of shoes in 130 countries.
The RLA shoe drive contributed to this outreach with the donations benefiting the Sole4Souls International micro-enterprise program as a tool to generate income. Taken into consideration with the organization's partners in Haiti and Honduras, the Rutgers Community has given the gift of 1,650 meals, one year of enrollment tuition for 16 student or 11 years worth of shelter for a family.
This donation also comes after RLA participated in a service trip to Honduras through Soles4Souls May, distributing 550 pairs of shoes to four different villages.
