
Iowa Holds Off Volleyball for Big Ten Sweep

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Oct. 10, 2018) – Rutgers volleyball recorded its highest ever hitting percentage mark in a Big Ten contest in a straight-set loss to Iowa on Wednesday evening at the College Ave. Gym.
The attack clip of .284 against the Hawkeyes, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, surpasses the team' previous mark of .276 from a trip to Indiana last season.

KNIGHT NOTES
- The Scarlet Knights' most productive Big Ten attacking night got started at a blinding pace as Rutgers hit .424 (17 kills, three errors, 33 attempts) in the opening set.
- In the double-digit killing department, senior outside hitter Sahbria McLetchie (12 kills) notched her 12th of the season, while sophomore right side Beka Kojadinovic (11 kills) had her seventh.
- Junior libero Karysa Swackenberg led Rutgers in digging for the 11th time in the last 13 matches while getting double-digit digs (13) for the 37th time in her career.
- Freshman setter Inna Balyko guided the attack with 34 assists, adding three kills, seven digs, an ace and a block assist elsewhere on the court.
- Freshman outside hitter Tali Marmen and junior middle Jasmine Stackhouse added eight and seven kills, respectively, with Stackhouse leading the blocking efforts on Wednesday with three.
- Set 1 | Marmen, Kojadinovic and McLetchie bounced three consecutive kills for a 3-0 run to bring Rutgers with one point at 11-10. It remained a one-point edge for Iowa down the stretch as Kojadinovic forced a blocking error to trail 19-18 before the Hawkeyes rallied for three straight and a 5-3 run to clinch the opener.
- Set 2 | Down 18-9, Rutgers mounted a comeback by way of an 8-0 run powered by McLetchie, Kojadinovic and junior middle Jasmine Stackhouse. McLetchie heated up with three kills during the rally, followed by Kojadinovic's two and a big solo block off the hands of Stackhouse, who also capped the run with a corner kill on a slide play.
- Set 2 | Balyko connected with Marmen to save set-point and bring Rutgers within one again, 24-23, before Iowa closed it out.
- Set 3 | Balyko and Swackenberg each aced a serve midway through the set during a 4-1 run, but Iowa's 15-9 lead after that point grew toward the straight-set sweep.
