PK By Jordan Hall Lifts RU To 2-1 Victory Against Northwestern

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior forward Jordan Hall buried a penalty kick with two minutes remaining in regulation to lift the Rutgers men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Northwestern Wildcats on Friday night at Yurcak Field.

For Hall, it was Manchester, England native's 10^th tally of the year as he continues to lead all Big Ten scorers.

Sophomore Brendan Wall captured Rutgers' (3-9-1, 2-4-0 Big Ten) first goal of the night on his first collegiate score.

"They are difficult, they are organized, defend really well and tough to break down," said head coach Dan Donigan of Northwestern. "I'm very happy for my guys. We really needed that game. Obviously it was a huge win and gives us six points in the conference. It puts us in a good spot. We have to take care of business as we come down the stretch with a difficult game against Indiana, which is home, and then on the road at Penn State, and have the opportunity to pick up more points."

The game's first goal belonged to Wall as he netted his first collegiate goal in the 74^th minute. In his third consecutive start, the Scarlet Knight midfielder received a pass from Hall and got into the Wildcat net from the top right side of the 18.

Northwestern (4-6-4, 0-4-2 Big Ten), however, punched back six minutes later and knotted the score at 1-1. Tommy Katsiyiannis played the ball back from the end line to Matt Moderwell to score from six yards out.

Both teams frantically tried to find the game-winner with seven shots combined taken by both squads in the closing minutes.

Hall, however, garnered the PK after the Wildcats were called for a handball inside the box with 2:10 left on the clock and returned Rutgers to the win column.

Junior Rafael Pereira came away with five saves in the win. The Wildcats' Miha Miskovich logged three stops in the loss.

The Rutgers men's soccer team hits the road for a nonconference contest at Lafayette on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

KNIGHT NOTES:
- Jordan Hall leads the Big Ten with 10 goals sitting at the top the rankings ahead of Indiana's Andrew Gutman with eight and Michigan's Umar Farouk Osman with seven.
- While Hall leads the Scarlet Knights on the season with 10 goals, two assists and 22 points, he has totaled 57 goals, 22 assists and 136 points in his career.
- The Scarlet Knights currently sit in sixth place in the Big Ten standings with conference games left with Indiana and Penn State.
