Scarlet Knights close regular season 11-2-5, 7-1-3

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 23 Rutgers women's soccer claimed a 2-1 victory over Purdue on Senior Day at Yurcak Field. The Scarlet Knights closed out the regular season with a record of 11-2-5 overall and 7-1-3 in Big Ten play.

Sophomore midfielder Gabby Provenzano registered the game winner, recording the second goal of her career. Junior back Amanda Visco added her second goal of the year. Senior Madison Pogarch and sophomore forward Nneka Moneme each added an assist in the win.

THE MATCH
Rutgers and Purdue battled through a balanced first half, as the Scarlet Knights led in shots, 3-2, and corners, 3-0. The teams would enter the break locked at 0-0.

In the 72nd minute, Madison Pogarch sent a corner kick into the box, as Visco finished with a header to the top left corner for the goal and a 1-0 lead.

Moments later, Purdue balanced the score with a goal in the 76th minute. The Boilermakers' Marisa Bova crossed to Hannah Melchiorre about 6-yards out, who then found Kylie Hase at the right post for the score.

The Scarlet Knights never relented, quickly reclaiming the lead. After an Amirah Ali shot was saved by Purdue's keeper, Moneme retreived the deflection to send a short pass to Provenzano.
Provenzano took the shot point blank to seal the win for RU.
