PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football (1-9, 0-7) dropped its matchup with No. 4 Michigan (9-1, 7-0) by a score of 42-7 on Saturday afternoon at HighPoint.com Stadium.

Freshman running back Isaih Pacheco paced the Scarlet Knights with 213 all-purpose yards, including 142 rushing yards and an 80-yard touchdown run. His rushing attack helped the Scarlet Knights post 193 yards on the ground, the most against the No. 5-ranked defense of the Wolverines during the 2018 season. Pacheco's 80-yard scamper for a score was Rutgers' longest run against a Big Ten opponent since joining the conference in 2014 and the longest ever by a Rutgers freshman.

Sophomore running back Raheem Blackshear followed with 89 all-purpose yards, with 41 rushing and 16 yards receiving on five receptions. Freshman quarterback Artur Sitkowski went 8-for-19 in the contest.

Defensively, redshirt senior defensive back Saquan Hampton led the team with 11 tackles to match his career high, seven of which were solo. Senior linebacker Trevor Morris followed with 10 tackles, while freshman corner back Avery Young registered nine.

FIRST QUARTER
After nearly 15 scoreless minutes, Michigan scored the first touchdown of the game on an eight-play drive, capped by a 1-yard rush for Karan Higdon. The score gave the Wolverines a 7-0 lead with less than a minute to go in the first quarter.

Rutgers quickly countered with a touchdown of its own on the first play of the Scarlet Knights' following drive. With 16 seconds to go in the quarter, Pacheco rushed for 80 yards to balance the score at 7-7. It marked the longest rush allowed by the Michigan defense this season.
SECOND QUARTER
Michigan reclaimed its lead with two scores in the second frame. The first came as another 1-yard rush for Higdon followed by a 36-yard pass from Shea Patterson to Nico Collins. The Scarlet Knights would hold it at a two-possession game at 21-7 entering halftime.

SECOND HALF
A trick play highlighted Rutgers' offense in the third quarter. Sitkowski exited the field, feigning a hand injury and summoning senior quarterback Giovanni Rescigno to take the next snap. However, he ended up lining up wide as Pacheco took the snap, rolled right, and found an open Rescigno for 19 yards and a first down at Rutgers' 48-yard line. It was Pacheco's second completion of his rookie season for 58 passing yards. It was Rescigno's first career reception in his 21st game.

Michigan extended its lead with a pair of touchdowns in the third. The Scarlet Knights held the Wolverines to a single touchdown in the final frame, but was unable to get the offense rolling.

UP NEXT
Rutgers hosts No. 20 Penn State for its home finale on Saturday, Nov. 17. The Scarlet Knights will honor their senior class with a pregame ceremony. Kickoff time is to be determined.
