
Field Hockey Ranked 11th in Final NFHCA Poll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - In the final coaches poll released by the NFHCA, Rutgers field hockey came in at number 11 in the country. The Scarlet Knights were ranked in the final 10 polls of the season, joining the rankings on September 4 and steadily moving upwards. The team peaked as high as 10th, which represented the highest ranking in program history.
The Scarlet Knights held a 13-5 record. The team played 10 games against nine different opponents to be ranked in the final poll. RU scored victories over No. 4 Princeton, No. 7 Iowa, No. 10 St. Joe's, and No. 25 Northwestern. The Big Ten Conference had seven of its nine members finish the season ranked, including five in the top 11. The conference also set a record with five teams qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
Rutgers earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament, where they will face No. 5 UConn on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in College Park, Maryland. The winner of that game will face the winner of Friday's contest between No. 2 Maryland and No. 17 Albany.
