
Four from Men’s Lacrosse to Play in North-South All-Star Game

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse will have four representatives at the 77th Annual USILA/Nike North vs. South All-Star game. Defenseman Alex Bronzo and midfielders Austin Divitcos, Christian Mazzone and Christian Scarpello will play in the senior all-star game event.
The game will be held on the campus of Providence College on Friday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. Bronzo, Divitcos and Mazzone will be on the North team, while Scarpello will compete for the South team.
Bronzo played in 58 games on defense in a Scarlet Knights uniform, starting for the past three years. He totaled 64 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. The Putnam Valley, N.Y. native was named to the 2018 All-Big Ten Tournament team.
Divitcos, a short-stick defensive midfielder, played in 51 career games 'On the Banks', recording 24 ground balls, five caused turnovers, three goals, six assists and nine points. As a senior captain, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native set career highs in goals (two), assists (three), points (five), ground balls (seven) and caused turnovers (five).
Mazzone was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Media and was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection. The midfielder scored 29 goals with nine assists for 38 goals while also collecting 40 ground balls and causing eight turnovers. In conference games, he was third in the Big Ten with 12 goals. The Stony Brook, N.Y. native scored in every game this season, holding the second longest goal-scoring streak of any midfielder in the nation dating back to last season. A team captain, Mazzone was a Third Round draft pick by the Ohio Machine.
Scarpello, a short-stick defensive midfielder, played in 60 career games 'On the Banks', recording 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points. The Madison, N.J. native collected 29 ground balls and caused 42 turnovers.
With these four selections, Rutgers has now had 122 players all-time participate in the North/South Game. Rutgers has been represented in 63 of the 77 lifetime games. Last year the Scarlet Knights were represented by Jeff George, while Kris Alleyne, Scott Bieda (game MVP) and Zack Sikora played in 2016. The last time RU had four players in the North-South Game was 1991.
The USILA/Nike North-South games provide an opportunity for the senior student-athletes to finish their collegiate career and carry on the tradition. This tradition started in 1940 and has been played every year with the exception of 1944 and 1945. These games will bring together over 120 of the finest senior men's lacrosse players in the country.
