Jul 23 | Field Hockey
PISCATAWAY, N.J – Rutgers field hockey announced its 2018 schedule today, unveiling a 17-game slate for the upcoming season. The season begins on August 26 with a home game against Richmond.
"The Big Ten schedule is always great competition and we are excited to see where we match up against top-10 teams such as Penn State and Maryland," head coach Meredith Civico said. "Adding other recent National Champions such as Princeton and Delaware to our schedule, as well as home games against Richmond and American, means we have a great schedule that will continue to challenge our young team."
The Scarlet Knights will face seven teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season, including two NCAA semifinalists in Maryland and Michigan, with Maryland being the NCAA Tournament runner-up.
Rutgers is looking to build on a nine-win season last year that included a program record three Big Ten wins and three ranked victories. The team was nationally ranked for eight straight weeks, finishing at No. 21 in the nation.
Rutgers will also play two exhibition games, traveling to face Drexel on Saturday, August 12 at 3:30 pm and hosting UConn on Saturday, August 18 at 1 p.m. Information on which games will be nationally televised and which games will be live streamed will be announced at a later date.
