Scarlet Knights named Academic Team for sixth straight year; Four named All-America Scholar-Athletes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 2, 2019) – Rutgers softball has earned its sixth consecutive distinction as an Easton/NFCA Academic Team by recording a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2018-19 academic year, while four Scarlet Knights have been honored as Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the period.
"The demands of a student-athlete are higher than ever, and we take pride in our program utilizing the resources at Rutgers and maximizing time-management skills," said head coach Kristen Butler. "The consecutive team award streak is a sign of the culture and commitment to success in the classroom."
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. Rutgers was one of 140 Academic Teams recognized in NCAA Division I for their work in the classroom in 2018-19.
Joining 1,769 All-America Scholar-Athletes from NCAA Division I are Rutgers graduate Allie Yoffee, seniors Anyssa Iliopoulos and Cambria Keefer, and Erin Collins.
