#21/19 Women's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season with #16/RV Michigan and Michigan State

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  No. 21/19 Rutgers women's soccer wraps up its regular season schedule with a trip to the Great Lake state for matches with No. 16/RV Michigan and Michigan State. The Scarlet Knights first visit the Wolverines on Thursday at 7 p.m. before matching up with the Spartans on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
  • Rutgers (12-2-2, 6-2-1) registered a pair of 1-0 overtime victories over Purdue and Indiana it's last time out. RU is 5-0-1 in its last six matches.
  • For the second straight week, Rutgers earned two Big Ten weekly honors with junior Nneka Moneme receiving Offensive Player of the Week recognition and classmate Gabby Provenzano earning Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
  • Moneme scored both golden goals in the OT wins, moving to a tie for the team lead with eight goals and four game winners this season.
  • Provenzano started and played every minute at center back in the two overtime victories, captaining a defense that allowed only 12 shots overall and two shots on goal in 185 minutes of action.
  • Defensively, RU ranks 17th in the nation with a 0.532 GAA on the season and has produced 10 shutouts this campaign.
  • Rutgers moved up to No. 21 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, while ranking No. 19 by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 18 by Soccer America.
 SCOUTING MICHIGAN
  • Michigan (12-3-1, 7-1-1) enters the week on a four-game win streak, defeating Michigan State 3-2 in its last time out on Saturday.
  • The Wolverines rank second in the conference heading into the final weekend of Big Ten regular season play.
  • Meredith Haakenson leads the team with eight goals and an assist this year.
  • In net, Hillary Beall maintains a 0.79 GAA including 54 saves and 13 goals allowed.
  • Rutgers holds a 2-1-1 lead in the series with Michigan. The team's last met in 2017 where RU earned a 1-0 win at home.
 SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE
  • Michigan State (8-7-1, 1-6-1) has fallen in its last four contests, including to Michigan on Saturday at home.
  • Gia Wahlberg leads the Spartans with nine goals on the season.
  • Paige Webber follows with six goals and two assists.
  • RU owns a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series with MSU. The Scarlet Knights claimed a 1-0, double overtime win on the road last year.
  • MSU welcomes Maryland on Thursday night before hosting Rutgers.
