PRINCETON, N.J. (Oct. 27, 2019) – Rutgers rowing fielded six boats at the Princeton Chase on a rainy Sunday morning on Carnegie Lake.
Rutgers' top boat finished eighth in 15:24.861 on the three-mile course, an improvement over last fall's ninth place ranking at the Princeton Chase.
"It was a lot of fun to watch our team get on the race course for the first time this year," said head coach Justin Price. "We always love the opportunity to compete and will continue to train hard as we work to improve in preparation for the spring season ahead."
The Scarlet Knights' six entries were the most at the regatta on Sunday, which included boats from Brown, Cornell, Drexel, George Washington, Princeton, UCF, North Carolina, Rhode Island and Virginia.
Rutgers B finished in 16:06.713 in 20th, followed by Rutgers C in 16:34.216, Rutgers D right behind in 16:38.963, Rutgers E in a time of 16:43.903 and Rutgers F coming in at 18:27.836.
The exhibition day of racing included a second round on the three-mile course, which saw Rutgers A place fourth in 15:43.141. All six Rutgers boats raced in both rounds, changing up a few lineups in the second race.
