Men’s Lacrosse Raises Money to Battle Cancer
Oct 08 | Men's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J – Rutgers men's lacrosse continues an annual initiative this weekend, as they will raise money for the Vs. Cancer Foundation in conjunction with their fall scrimmages.
This weekend the team will head to Toronto, Canada for a tri-scrimmage on Sunday, October 13. Hosted by Upper Canada College, the Scarlet Knights will face UMass at 10 a.m. and Hobart at 12 p.m. Alongside this, the team will work to raise awareness and funds for local children with cancer. To support the team's fundraising efforts, visit here.
Kimberly Roy-Canning, director of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's northeast region, understands how vital the team's support is to the nonprofit's mission.
"We applaud the efforts and generous spirit of Rutgers men's lacrosse! Vs. Cancer wasn't just built by athletes for athletes. We were started by a pediatric brain cancer survivor, and we see every day how important family support and research are for children to thrive. With the support of this incredible team, we're fighting for healthier, happier futures for these kids!"
The team had their opening fall scrimmage last Saturday, facing Georgetown in the Saint Louis Lacrosse Fall Classic. Around that game, the two team's combined to help raise $15,000 to support the St. Louis Children's Hospital. The team hosted a youth lacrosse clinic, and will do so again this weekend.
