Amirah Ali is a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club announced Tuesday.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's winners will be announced in early January at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Ali, a three-time All-Big Ten selection, earned first team conference honors for the second straight year after posting nine goals, four gamewinners and four assists in 2019. The 2018 All-American helped the Scarlet Knights to a second-place finish in the Big Ten for a second consecutive year, tallying four goals, two assists and two gamewinners in league action.

The Voorhees, New Jersey, native helped push RU to its eighth straight NCAA Tournament, 10
th in the last 12 seasons, and 14
th time overall. Ali also guided the Scarlet Knights to their sixth straight Big Ten Tournament since joining the league in 2014, advancing to their third B1G semifinal.

The 2017 Big Ten Freshman of the Year brought her career total to 62 points (25g, 12a), ranking top 10 in the Rutgers record books in points, goals, and gamewinners. She owns the Rutgers career record for overtime goals with eight overall, as well as the single season record with four in 2018. The forward has started all 62 games since her arrival "On the Banks" in 2017.
Additionally, Ali is a two-time all-region selection, a 2017 Big Ten All-Freshman team honoree, and a 2018 Big Ten All-Tournament team member. She earned a spot on the watch list after pacing the league in 2018 in total goals (10), game-winning goals (5), and finishing second in total points (23). Ali had a hand in seven of RU's 12 conference goals as the Scarlet Knights finished as runner-up to the regular season title for the first time in program history.

Ali notched the program's 10th recognition on a MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and third in the last five years. Ali is the third semifinalist in program history, joining former Scarlet Knight standouts Carli Lloyd (2004) and
Casey Murphy (2017).

The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. From the fifteen semifinalists, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.
