Scarlet Knights Bolster Squad With Addition Transfer Outfielder from Arizona
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers softball head coach Kristen Butler has announced the addition of freshman outfielder Taylor Fawcett to the 2020 roster.
"We are excited to add Taylor to our already talented team," said Butler. "She is the type of player that our staff is wanting to bring 'To the Banks' and we look forward to the speed and power at the plate that will enhance our current roster. Not only is Taylor a talented athlete, but an even better student and person. Our team is blessed she chose Rutgers."

Fawcett, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, transfers to Rutgers after spending last semester at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She arrives "On The Banks" as the No. 8 ranked recruit according to FloSoftball and No. 11 recruit by Softball America in the 2019-20 incoming class.
A two-time Arizona Class 6A All-Conference and All-Region first team selection, Fawcett totaled 146 hits, 133 RBIs and 134 runs with a .421 batting average over the course of her varsity career at Pinnacle High School. During her scholastic career, Pinnacle advanced to the state championship game in all four seasons, claiming the title in the 2018.
As a senior in 2019, Fawcett was named a PGF All-American, participated in the PGF High School All-American Game and was an Arizona High School Player of the Year Finalist batting .485 with 47 hits, 49 RBIs, 15 home runs and a .536 slugging percentage. Her junior year in 2018 saw a .402 batting average with 47 hits and 40 RBIs, while as a sophomore in 2017, Fawcett collected 10 home runs and 42 RBIs helping Pinnacle to a 34-2 record leading to a No. 2 preseason ranking in the 2018 MaxPreps Xcellent Preseason Top 50 Softball Rankings.
A member of the National Honor Society and Society of Women Scholars, Fawcett intends to major in business.
"I am thankful for the opportunity to represent Rutgers University as a student-athlete," said Fawcett of joining the Scarlet Knights. "The coaching staff are wonderful individuals who have my best interests at heart. There are so many exciting things that are happening at Rutgers and I am blessed to be a part of it."
