PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The 2019 Big Ten men's lacrosse tournament comes to HighPoint.com Stadium on the first weekend of May.
On Thursday, the Scarlet Knights will play in the first semifinal at 5 pm against Penn State. Johns Hopkins and Maryland will square off in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
Offensively, Rutgers is led by the attack duo of
Kieran Mullins and
Adam Charalambides. Mullins has already set a new career-high with 59 points, and his 3.2 assists per game are fifth best in the nation. Charalambides has 45 goals, tying his previous career-high, which is third most in Rutgers' program history. His 18 goals in Big Ten Conference games makes him the conference's highest scorer in league play.
On the defensive end, the Scarlet Knights are backstopped by defenseman
Kyle Pless and goalkeeper
Max Edelmann. Pless has earned four Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week awards this year, and is second in the conference with 1.6 caused turnovers per game. Edelmann leads the NCAA with 14.9 saves per game, and his save percentage of 58.2% tops the league.
Rutgers' senior class has compiled 37 wins over the past four years. That makes this group the winningest class in program history.
