Three Scarlet Knights Collect Event Titles at Sam Howell Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Rutgers men's track and field collected three event titles and set numerous PRs at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton on Saturday.
 
Senior Sterling Pierce (200m), sophomore Eric Barnes (800m) and senior John Mooers (Discus Throw) each collected tiles in their respective events. Overall, the Scarlet Knights recorded seven Top 3 finishes at the meet.
 
TRACK EVENTS
Pierce won the 200m with a time of 21.46, as sophomore Semaj Willis followed in the event with a result of 22.57.
 
Barnes claimed the 800m title in the unseeded event with a personal record of 1:53.44. Senior Edward Zaleck finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:56.08, while freshman Chris Smith finished eighth with a PR of 1:56.73. Senior Dimitri Demos added a time of 1:57.96 in the event.

Sophomore Christopher Jenkins finished third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.26.

The 4x400m relay team of Pierce, Jenkins, Willis and freshman Jameson Woodell were runner-ups in the event with a time of 3:14.98.
  
Pierce also finished third in the 100m, clocking a time of 10.80. Freshman A'Nan Bridgett followed with a time of 11.15.
  
Freshman Andrew Daniluk clocked a time of 15.35 in the 110m hurdles, finishing ninth in the field.
 
FIELD EVENTS
Mooers won the discus throw title with a personal-best 54.35m (178' 11") throw. Sophomore Jason Campbell finished in second with a throw of 52.34m (171' 8"). Freshman Kamron Kobolak added a 43.45m (142' 6") throw in the event, while also recording a throw of 15.25m (50' 0.5") in the shot put to finish fifth.
 
In the high jump, senior Jordan Lorenzo finished seventh with a jump of 1.98m (6' 6") followed by Bridgett with a mark of 1.93m (6' 4"). Junior Patrick Warren posted a mark of 6.49m (21' 3.5") in the long jump.
 
UP NEXT 
Rutgers hosts the 2019 Metropolitan Championships on April 12-13 at the Bauer Track and Field Complex. A senior day ceremony will take place prior to Saturday's events.
