PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Scarlet Knights continue to excell academically, proven this week as the Big Ten Conference recognized 24 Rutgers men's lacrosse student-athletes on the 2019 Spring Academic All-Big Ten list, which tied for the most among all Big Ten men's lacrosse teams.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Adam Charalambides and Casey Rose earned the accolade for the fourth time in their career. Three student-athletes (Mark Christiano, Max Edelmann and Alex Schoen) were recognized for a third time, while seven (Ben Dodson, Brodie Gillespie, Owen Mead, Kieran Mullins, Sam Oltmans, Mark Schachte and Jack Thompson) were honored for the second time.
The 24 Academic All-Big Ten selections is a program record since joining the conference, improving on last year's mark of 20. In the five years as a Big Ten member, Rutgers has earned 89 Academic All-Big Ten selections, setting records each of the last three years. 75 percent of eligible men's lacrosse student-athletes earned the recognition.
"Our student-athletes continue to bring their best and set records in the classroom," said Director of Athletics Pat Hobbs. "We are very proud of their commitment to academic and personal growth. It not only drives their many achievements at Rutgers, it will serve to enable lifelong success."
