PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Former Scarlet Knights
Madison Pogarch and
Kenie Wright have signed National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) contracts with their respective clubs. Pogarch was added to the Portland Thorns FC roster, while Wright joins the lineup for New Jersey's Sky Blue FC.

Pogarch joins the Thorns following a stint on their 2019 preseason roster, seeing action in multiple contests for the club.

In her first season as a Scarlet Knight, Pogarch started all 20 contests. The defender, who was a candidate for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award, aided the back line in holding opponents to three or less shots on goal in 10 out of 18 matches. Overall, the Scarlet Knights' 0.60 GAA led the Big Ten and ranked 25th in the nation heading into the NCAA Tournament. It marked the sevent consecutive NCAA appearance for the Scarlet Knights.

The Hartland, Michigan, native was named Second Team All-Region and Third Team All-Big Ten, picking up an all-conference honor for the fourth straight season. The back transferred to RU as a two-time All-MAC recipient and All-Freshman selection at Central Michigan.

Wright was selected 29th overall by Sky Blue FC in the 2019 NWSL College Draft, marking the fourth consecutive season that the program had at least one player drafted to the league.

The Mount Laurel, New Jersey, native anchored a defense that helped propel the Scarlet Knights to their highest finish in the conference as the runner-up for the regular season title. Overall, Wright and the back line registered eight shutouts overall and five shutouts in conference play. RU also tied an NCAA record with 11 overtime games, holding an unbeaten mark of 6-0-5 in those matches.

The co-captain was named Third Team All-Region and Second Team All-Big Ten, as well as the Sportsmanship Award honoree. She brought her conference accolade total to three, having earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team status as a rookie.

Six Scarlet Knights are active in the league for the 2019 season, including Carli Lloyd (Sky Blue FC),
Madison Tiernan (Sky Blue FC), Pogarch (Portland Thorns FC), Erica Skroski (Sky Blue FC), Wright (Sky Blue FC), and Kristen Edmonds (Orlando Pride).

Additionally, Lloyd was named to the
2019 USA FIFA Women's World Cup Roster, marking her fourth appearance with the national team. Overall, Rutgers has two World Cup winners, as Saskia Webber claimed gold with the 1999 squad followed by Lloyd with the 2015 team.Â
