O'Dougherty Named to Team USA Roster for World Indoor Lacrosse Championship

SPARKS, Md. — Former Rutgers men's lacrosse star Chris O'Dougherty was one of 23 players selected by US Lacrosse to the roster for the U.S. men's team that will compete in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Langley, British Columbia from Sept. 19-28, 2019.
O'Dougherty was named a USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2007 and was a three-time All-ECAC selection while playing for the Scarlet Knights. A three-year captain, he was a four year starter on defense. After the 2008 season, he was awarded the William Miller Trophy as the team's MVP and was named to the North/South Game. The Kinnelon native and Seton Hall Prep product scooped 43 groundballs during his senior season, second-best on the team. While anchoring the RU defense, O'Dougherty caused 13 turnovers, also second on the squad.
O'Dougherty was a member of the Team USA in 2015 when they earned a bronze medal at the previous World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. O'Dougherty played in all seven games for Team USA on defense, collected 23 loose balls and also scored a goal on the offensive end.
Following his Rutgers career, he played professionally in the MLL with the Denver Outlaws, winning the championship in 2014, and it the NLL with the Vancouver Stealth, winning a championship in 2011.
The U.S. team opens its schedule on Sept. 19 against Canada and has pool play games against Israel on Sept. 20 and the Iroquois Nationals on Sept. 21.
