LIMA, Peru - Rutgers field hockey assistant coachÂ
Ajai Dhadwal captained the United States men's national field hockey team to a bronze medal in the Pan American Games, held in Peru from July 29 - August 10. A defender, Dhadwal guided the teams backline as the team
defeated Chile 2-1 on Saturday to earned the program's first Pan Am Games medal since 1995.Â
Dhadwal has been a member of the USA Field Hockey program since 2009, and has earned multiple medals in international competition. With over 100 international caps, he brought his experience to the event and aided the US to four wins over six games, as the Americans outscored their opponents by a combined 28-12 margin with wins over Peru, Mexico, Cuba and Chile.Â
Dhadwal enters his third season as an assistant coach in 2019. In his two seasons on staff, the team has compiled 22 wins, and last season qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1986.Â
