HAMILTON, N.Y. (Sept. 13, 2019) – Rutgers volleyball (4-3) defeated New Hampshire (6-3) in straight sets to open the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament at Colgate on Friday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights have won four straight matches for the first time since 2016.
 

STANDOUT STATS

• Senior middle Jasmine Stackhouse led the Rutgers attack with 10 kills without making an error for a .714 swing percentage. The Detroit, Mich. native also led the defensive effort with four blocks.
• Sophomore setter Inna Balyko posted her fourth double-double in five matches with 26 assists and a match-high 15 digs against the Wildcats.
• Rutgers led in digs, 44-29.

KEY MOMENTS

• Set 1| Junior right side Beka Kojadinovic and sophomore outside hitter Anastasiia Maksimova each had two kills and senior libero Karysa Swackenberg added a service ace during a 7-0 run that put the set firmly in the hands of the Scarlet Knights with a 14-3 lead.
• Set 2 | Stackhouse took control in the middle of the period with two kills and a block, powering an 8-0 spurt and a commanding 20-8 advantage.
• Set 3 | Following an early 4-0 Rutgers run – sparked by Balyko's solo block and kill off the hand of sophomore outside hitter Anastasiya Kudryashova – UNH kept it close in the final set, not allowing Rutgers a run more than two points in a row. The Scarlet Knights earned four of the final five points of the match via kill, with Kudryashova bouncing a pair.

QUOTABLE

"It was a good match all-around for us," said head coach CJ Werneke. "We executed our game plan at a high level and continued to put pressure on New Hampshire from the service line and with our first touch offensively. We played at our level and played it consistently. We set the tone early and often."
 

KNIGHT NOTES

• Rutgers' last four-match winning streak came between Aug. 26 and Sept. 2 early in the 2016 season against Rider, Hartford, Bryant and Iona.
• The Scarlet Knights scored their first 3-0 sweep of the season.
• With a 7-2 advantage in service aces, Rutgers has won that category in five of seven matches this season.
• Stackhouse led the team in kills for the first time in 2019, and posted her sixth career double-digit kill match.

The Scarlet Knights continue the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Quinnipiac before closing out against the hosting Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on the Patriot League Network.
