Men’s Lacrosse Prepares for Fall Slate

PISCATAWAY, N.J – Rutgers men's lacrosse is set to begin their fall competition this weekend. The Scarlet Knights will be in action each of the next four weekends.
This Sunday (September 22) is the annual Scarlet and White Scrimmage. The team will break into two teams for an intersquad matchup that will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Marco Battaglia Practice Complex. It is open to the public. For parking registration, click here.
On Saturday, September 28 is the program's annual Alumni Game, with former letterwinners invited back to play against the current squad. The Alumni Game starts at 1 p.m. at the Marco Battaglia Practice Complex, preceded by the annual team banquet. To park, please register here.
On Saturday, October 5 Rutgers will take on Georgetown in the Saint Louis Lacrosse Fall Classic. The game will be held at 7 p.m. at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium on the campus of Lindenwood University in St. Louis. As part of the contest, the team will help raise money to support the St. Louis Children's Hospital.
Finally, the team will head to Toronto, Canada for a tri-scrimmage on Sunday, October 13. Hosted by Upper Canada College, the Scarlet Knights will face UMass at 10 a.m. and Hobart at 12 p.m. The team will also host youth lacrosse clinics for local children in conjunction with both scrimmages.
In addition, the weekend of October 18th is the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame celebration. Men's lacrosse Alumni Greg Rinaldi, who played from 1987 to 1990 and was a three-time All-American after scoring 144 goals (second all-time in program history), will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday night at a dinner at the Hilton East Brunswick. On Saturday, Rinaldi will be recognized at the Rutgers football homecoming game against Minnesota, with the program hosting alumni in an event at the stadium.
Rutgers has posted 37 wins over the past four seasons. The Scarlet Knights are set to return its top six point scorers from last season, as well as 13 returners with previous starting experience. The program recently welcomed 18 newcomers to their roster that will get their first exposure this fall.
