OPENING TIP: Rutgers hosts Indiana Wednesday evening at a sold-out RAC, the second-straight sell-out at the venue and the third in five games. The Scarlet Knights are 11-0 at home this season and will play their first Big Ten Conference game while receiving votes. RU, which garnered one vote in the AP Poll for two weeks in November 2016, received votes in both the AP (8) and Coaches (18) Polls on Monday. The last time the program was ranked was in the final poll of the 1978-79 season (18).

According to ESPN's BPI, the Scarlet Knights are projected to have the nation's 11th-toughest schedule for the remainder of the season.

Rutgers is coming off a 54-51 loss at now nationally ranked Illinois on Saturday. RU limited UI to 28.6 percent (18-of-63) shooting, the lowest mark for a winning team in Big Ten Conference play in more than 10 years. Jacob Young was 4-of-7 from behind the arc off the bench to pace the Scarlet Knights with 16 points in the hard-fought defeat.

Seven different players have led the Scarlet Knights in scoring over the last nine games.

THE OPPONENT: Under third-year head coach Archie Miller, Indiana has received votes in the polls for seven weeks this season. After earning wins over UConn, Notre Dame and No. 17 Florida State in non-conference play, IU has downed Nebraska, Northwestern and most recently No. 11 Ohio State in Big Ten action. Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis leads the team in scoring (14.6), while Devonte Green is second (12.5) following a 19-point showing against OSU. The Hoosiers are ninth nationally in both rebounding margin (9.1) and free throws made (298).

THE SERIES: Wednesday marks the 10th meeting between the schools, with Indiana holding a 7-2 advantage. Rutgers has won two of the last three matchups, defeating Indiana 76-69 in the 2018 Big Ten Tournament at MSG and claiming a 66-58 win in the last meeting at the RAC. In that contest, RU utilized a 22-0 run to overcome a 10-point deficit, one of 11 times RU has overcome a double-digit deficit to earn a victory under head coach Steve Pikiell. Geo Baker, who has missed the last three games with a left thumb injury, has averaged 11.5 points and shot 57.1% behind the arc in four games against IU.
