WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 19 Rutgers men's lacrosse took its first loss of the year as it dropped a contest at No. 13 Army (3-0) by a final score of 15-4.
Adam Charalambides scored twice for RU, with
Kieran Mullins and
David Sprock adding goals.
Army led 39-36 in shots and 37-20 in ground balls. The Black Knights made 18 saves on the day.
Army opened the game with the first three goals.
Adam Charalambides had RU's first tally of the day to halt the streak. But the Black Knights added the next four goals to take a 7-1 halftime lead behind 11 saves from their goalkeeper in the opening half.
David Sprock tallied next for the visitors, but Army continued to add to its lead. Charalambides and Mullins added second half goal, but the Black Knights clinched the victory.
Next week, Rutgers is back on the road. The Scarlet Knights will face No.16 Loyola at noon. That game will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
