TOLEDO, OHIO –  Rutgers gymnastics set a new school record on vault at the Big Five meet on podium Friday night at Elevate the Stage. The Scarlet Knights produced a 49.225 on vault to establish the program standard, contributing to a team score of 193.625.

The Scarlet Knights started off the night on bars, as senior
Shannon Farrell led RU with a 9.850. Â Freshman
Hannah Joyner matched her season-best for a second straight meet with a 9.775. Sophomore
Abigail Karolewski added a 9.775 as well, while senior
Kaitlyn Hall and junior
Belle Huang each posted a 9.725. As a team, RU registered a 48.850 in the event.

Moving to beam, Joyner reached 9.900 for the sixth time this season, finishing second in the meet. Huang's routine earned her a 9.725 to help contribute to a team score of 47.550.

Following a bye during the third rotation, Rutgers took the floor. Huang registered a team-leading 9.850, hitting a 9.850 or higher for the fifth time this year. Joyner added a 9.825, reaching a 9.825 or higher the fifth time as well. Junior
Toni Williams returned to the lineup with a 9.725, contributing to the team mark of 48.000.

Rutgers closed out the meet strong by posting the program's highest ever team score on vault at 49.225. Hall matched her career-high for the second consecutive meet with a 9.875. Williams, who returned to the vault lineup as well, registered a career-high as with an identical mark of 9.875. Huang (9.850), Joyner (9.825) and Farrell (9.800) each reached 9.8 or higher to contribute to the record breaking score.

Joyner placed fourth in the all-around with a mark of 39.325, while Huang followed with a 39.150.

No. 16 Nebraska led the five-team competition on Friday with team score of 196.750. The remaining five Big Ten squads will compete on Saturday. The Big Five meets will determine the league's regular season champion, as well as impact the seeding for the Big Ten Championships on March 21.

- Rutgers continues to add new marks to the record book, setting a program-high on vault with a score of 49.225. The result tops a score of 49.200 set in February of 2014.
- The Scarlet Knights have posted the second-highest road score in history (195.700 – Jan. 31) and second-best beam score (49.200 – Jan. 31) this season.
- Hannah Joyner placed second on a beam with a 9.900, having entered the meet ranked 18th in the nation in the event.

Rutgers travels to West Virginia for a tri-meet on Sunday, March 1. The meet begins at 2 p.m. ET with host WVU and Pittsburgh.
