PRINCETON, N.J. - The Rutgers men's lacrosse team dropped a tough road matchup to No. 3 Princeton on Saturday, falling by a score of 16-11. Kieran Mullins led the way for the Scarlet Knights, scoring three goals for his first hat trick of the season, while also adding an assist. David Sprock also put in three goals, while Adam Charalambides added two goals and dished out three assists for a five-point performance. Ryan Gallagher had two goals, and Brennan Kamish had the other tally for the Scarlet Knights.

Stephen Russo made nine saves for RU. Zach Masessa had a team high four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Ethan Rall and Brennan Kamish each also had two caused turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Rutgers got off to a solid start, holding a 3-2 lead after a Kieran Mullins goal on a man-up situation. The Tigers would respond, however, scoring 4 straight of their own to take a 6-4 lead at halftime.

The Scarlet Knights struck back with the next two goals following halftime. After a David Sprock marker to tie the game at six, Princeton score the next six goals to take control of the game. RU rallied late to cut the lead to 15-11 with a 3-1 run, but was unable to overcome the deficit.

POSTGAME NOTES

With four points, Kieran Mullins now has 179 points for his career. He moved past John Danowski and Greg Rinaldi to move into 8^th all-time in Rutgers' history.
Adam Charalambides recorded his 13^th career game with at least five points.
RU, which entered second in the Big Ten with 7.6 caused turnovers per game, notched 11 caused turnovers in the contest.
This was the 98^th meeting all-time between the two in-state rivals in the battle for the Meistrell Cup. The game is the 7^th longest contested rivalry in the nation.
