Men's Soccer Signs Gabriel Addo & Francesco Scotti

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's soccer head coach Jim McElderry announced today the addition of two international midfielders to the 2020 recruiting class.

Gabriel Addo (Ghana) and Francesco Scotti (Italy) are set to join the Scarlet Knights this fall alongside five other newcomers from the early signing class.

Class: Freshman
Position: Central Midfield
Club: Phoenix Academy
Hometown: Accra, Ghana

Gabriel Addo plays for the prestigious Phoenix Academy in Ghana, a non-profit soccer club creating opportunities for talented, underprivileged teenagers across the country.

McElderry on Addo: “We are very happy to have Gabriel join us at Rutgers University. He is a top central midfielder and also a top student. He will bring technical ability and athleticism to our midfield. I am confident he will have a big impact on our team over the next four years.”

Francesco Scotti
Class: Freshman
Position: Attacking Midfield
Club: U.C. Sampdoria
Hometown: Rapallo, Italy

Francesco Scotti is an offensive-minded midfielder with a high-caliber of domestic and international experience in Italy. Scotti, most recently of the Sampdoria club in Serie C, has played for the U16 Italian National Team.

McElderry on Scotti: “Francesco bring top-level experience to Rutgers after having played for the Italian youth national team and one of the top clubs in the country. Francesco has excellent technical ability, especially in the final third. He will help us keep the ball and give the decisive pass. Everyone on the staff has enjoyed getting to know him and are looking forward to having him become a key part of Rutgers Soccer.”
