Women's Soccer 2020 Recruiting Class Ranked 8th Nationally

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  The 2020 Rutgers women's soccer recruiting class has been tabbed Top 10 nationally by Top Drawer Soccer. The group of 10 signees - Sara Brocious, Faith Dobosiewicz, Becci Fluchel, Abby Jonathan, Samantha Kroeger, Julianne Leskauskas, Allison Lowrey, Emma Misal, Giana Romano, and Emily Sapienza - ranks 8th nationally among all NCAA Division I classes.

The Scarlet Knights are the highest ranked recruiting class in the Big Ten and the only class of the conference in the Top 10. The 2020 signees are comprised of youth national champions, high school All-Americans, and players with youth national team experience. Additionally, seven of the 10 are Garden State products, remaining home to compete for the State University of New Jersey.

"This 2020 class is a very talented group that will allow us to add depth in every position. They all are fierce competitors who love to compete and are well experienced playing in big games," said Head Coach Mike O'Neill, when announcing the class. "The group includes youth national champions, high school All-Americans, and players with youth national team experience.

"It is a group of amazing people with great character that will add to our program culture, academically and athletically. Our expectation is for this class to come in and compete for playing time right away. The goal of the state university is to put a fence around New Jersey and keep the best players at home. We feel we did that with seven of ten players hailing from the great garden state, as well as bringing in top out-of-state talent to complement this class."

The 2020 recruiting class is poised to make an immediate impact on the program, maintaining the momentum of recent years. The group mixes with returners of a 2019 squad that registered an overall record of 15-4-2, including a program best 14 regular season victories. The Scarlet Knights advanced to their eighth straight NCAA Tournament, 10th in the last 12 years, and 14th overall.

Rutgers finished as runner-up to the Big Ten regular season title for the second straight year, earning the No. 2 seed in its sixth Big Ten Tournament and advancing to its third semifinal. The Big Ten mark of 8-2-1 for RU matched the most conference victories in a season.

The 2020 signing class will complement a lineup that returns a two-time All-American, three All-Big Ten selections, and three All-Region honorees, as well as a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. To learn more about the newcomers, click here.
