Knights in the NWSL: 2020 Fall Series
Sep 03 | Women's Soccer
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) returns to the field for a fall series from September 5 to October 17, marking the second slate of competition for the league in 2020. The action begins with Sky Blue FC and Washington Spirit on September 5, 2020 at 1 p.m. ET live on CBS.
Following this summer's 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, the fall series will again feature numerous former Scarlet Knights. Sky Blue FC, the New Jersey based club, is home Carli Lloyd, Erica Skroski, Kenie Wright, Chantelle Swaby, and Cassidy Benintente. The club was also home to Madison Tiernan, who recently announced her retirement from the NWSL and soccer. The Scarlet Knights are also represented by Kristen Edmonds of Orlando Pride, Casey Murphy of OL Reign, and Madison Pogarch of Portland Thorns FC.
The NWSL recently hosted the 2020 Challenge Cup in Utah this past June-July, which saw Sky Blue FC and Portland Thorns FC advance to the semifinals with help from the Scarlet Knight alumni.
Coverage for the fall series will include a televised NWSL Game of the Week on the CBS Television Network every Saturday in September, and on CBS Sports Network three Saturdays in October. CBS All Access will exclusively stream four games, while Twitch will exclusively stream seven games globally, including in the United States, and every game internationally.
The NWSL fall series will include 18 matches over the course of seven weeks, featuring three, three-team pods that will all play one another and enable the league to minimize travel. The three teams in each regional pod will play four games apiece.
