Field Hockey Celebrates Big Ten Tournament Championship

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers field hockey gathered in the multipurpose room at the Rodkin Center last Friday, celebrating the team's monumental season with family, supporters, staff and friends. The Scarlet Knights commemorated a season that saw the program clinch the first Big Ten Tournament championship for any Rutgers athletics program.
The team gathered in the morning for a photoshoot with the Big Ten trophy. The team then went to the Rodkin for an event that included lunch, speeches from Pat Hobbs, President Jonathan Holloway, head coach Meredith Civico and Gianna Glatz.
The program set records in 2021 for overall wins (19), ranked wins (13), top-10 wins (six) and Big Ten Conference wins (six). Rutgers won the Big Ten Tournament Championship for the first time, marking the first Big Ten Tournament championship for any Rutgers athletics program. The Scarlet Knights entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and ranked No. 1 in the NFHCA Coaches Poll for the first time in program history. RU advanced to the Elite Eight with a First Round victory over No. 17 Delaware, the first NCAA Tournament victory for the program since 1986.
