Scarlet Knights post a team score of 195.975 for highest road mark and third best team score overall

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – A career day for sophomore Hannah Joyner helped Rutgers gymnastics produce its highest team road score in program history at No. 10 Minnesota live on ESPNU.

RU's team mark of 195.975 comes in as the third best total in the record books, as Joyner recorded career-highs on beam (9.925), vault (9.900) and in all-around (39.450) to lead the Scarlet Knights.

BARS

Rutgers first rotation on bars was anchored by Joyner with a team-best 9.800, while senior Emily Drauss and junior Abigail Karolewski followed with identical marks of 9.775. Freshman Calah Newman posted a season-best 9.725 in the event, as classmate Avery Balser added a 9.750 for RU.

VAULT

All six gymnasts on vault produced personal bests to push RU to a season-high team score of 49.050 in the event. Joyner continued strong for RU by posting a new career high of 9.900 in the event. Huang matched her own career-best of 9.875, while Newman recorded a new personal top mark in her young career with a 9.800.

Sophomore Jenna Ferguson (9.775), freshmen Avery Balser (9.700) and Emily Leese (9.700) rounded out the vault lineup for RU.

FLOOR

Moving to floor, freshman Emily Wood joined in with a new personal high of her own, registering a mark of 9.825. Joyner recorded a 9.825 score as well, while Huang posted a 9.800 to follow. Freshmen Stephanie Zannella (9.700), Balser (9.725), and Newman (9.725) also competed on floor for the Scarlet Knights.

BEAM

In the final rotation, Joyner made yet another statement for RU by matching her career-high on beam with a 9.925 to place second. It marked the ninth time in her career that she has eclipsed 9.9 or higher in the event.

Junior Kiera Doherty-Herwitz recorded a 9.825 for RU, while Huang contributed a 9.800 result. Ferguson added a 9.750 and Zannella posted a 9.700 as RU registered its second-highest beam score of the year at 49.200, a mark that ranks as the fourth best team score in the program record books.

ALL-AROUND

Joyner's career marks helped push her to a personal best all-around score as well at 39.450, placing second in the meet. Newman finished third among the all-arounders with a 38.925.

KNIGHT NOTES

The team score of 195.975 marked the highest road score ever for the Scarlet Knights, tying for the third best overall team result in program history. The mark of 195.975 was first set as the third best score back in March of 2013.
Rutgers beam score of 49.200 ranks as the fourth best team score in the event in the record book. The Scarlet Knights also posted the second-best program score in the event this season with a 49.275 in the win at Nebraska.
Hannah Joyner has now reached a 9.9 in all four events as a Scarlet Knight, setting career-highs of 9.925 on beam and 9.900 on bars as a rookie and new highs of 9.900 on floor and 9.900 on vault this year.
Joyner matched her career-high on beam with a 9.925 for the fourth time, a mark that ranks second on the Rutgers career charts. Overall, she has posted a 9.9 or higher on beam nine times in her career.
Rutgers competed against its second straight ranked opponent with No. 10 Minnesota, having hosted No. 24 Ohio State in its last outing.
