COLLEGE PARK, MD. -Â No. 17 Rutgers women's soccer (4-1-1, 4-1-1 Big Ten) played to a 0-0, double-overtime draw at Maryland (0-4-2, 0-4-2 Big Ten) on Saturday afternoon in College Park.
The Scarlet Knights held an edge in offensive opportunities, outshooting the Terrapins 8-4 with a pair of shots on goal. RU also had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks in the tie. Â

Rutgers threatened to break the scoreless tie in the first overtime period with three shots, forcing the Maryland goalkeeper to make two saves and preserve the draw. With less than five minutes remaining in the first overtime, the Scarlet Knights saw one of their best scoring chances come from leading goal-scorer and senior
Amirah Ali, who sent a shot into the bottom right corner. It was followed moments later by freshman
Julianne Leskauskas who put another shot on goal. Â
Junior goalkeeper Meagan McClelland and the defense picked up the second shutout of the year for RU, holding UMD to just four total shots in the match. McClelland recorded a save on the only Terrapin shot on goal, as Rutgers led Maryland in shots (8-4), shots on goal (2-1) and corner kicks (7-4) in the tie.Â

- Rutgers picked up its second shutout of the year, holding Maryland to just two shots on goal, the least of any RU opponent this season.
- The Scarlet Knight defense has held its opponents to single shots in five of six games this year. All six opponents have been held to single-digit shots on goal.
