
Record 59 Winter Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-Big Ten

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A school-record 59 Rutgers student-athletes were recognized by the Big Ten Conference as Winter 2021 Academic All-Conference on Wednesday after a record-setting 123 were honored by the league in the fall. Among the winter honorees are 18 repeat selections and 12 three-time selections.
Rutgers' three-time Big Ten All-Academic honorees include Geo Baker, Myles Johnson and Luke Nathan from men's basketball, Mael Gilles from women's basketball, Lauren Boone from women's swimming and diving, Emily Drauss and Belle Huang from gymnastics and Brett Donner, Zach Firestone, Joseph Grello, Shane Metzler and Michael VanBrill from wrestling. Firestone and Jenna Douglass (diving) maintained perfect 4.0 GPAs during the semester.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students-athletes must have been enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
