Michigan State Takes Two From Softball on Saturday

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State took two from the Rutgers softball team on Saturday at Secchia Stadium.
The Scarlet Knights wrap up the Michigan State series on Sunday at 1 p.m.

| STANDOUT STATS |
- Sophomore Payton Lincavage went 1-for-4 with a home run to start off the contests.
- Graduate student Gabrielle Callaway and Kiersten Withstandley both had a hit along with an RBI.
- Graduate student Izzy Berouty got the start pitching 4.2 innings with two strikeouts. Sophomore Ashley Hitchcock, in the loss, threw the final 1.1 with a pair of strikeouts.
| THE RUNDOWN |
- Rutgers took the lead with the first batter of the afternoon. Payton Lincavage, whose nine-game hitting streak was snapped on Friday, took a full count deep to left field for the 1-0 lead.
- The Scarlet Knights tacked on another two in the fifth. With two outs and one on, Gabrielle Callaway doubled down the right-field line to score Hailey Hoklotubbe and came home as Kiersten Withstandley singled to center.
- Michigan State got onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning as with the bases loaded and two outs, Kendall Kates singled to center to bring home a pair of runs.
- The Spartans tied the game in sixth with Marissa Trivelpiece leading off with a solo shot.
- Kates used a walk-off home run in the seventh to give the Spartans game one.

- It was Lincavage's second career home run and third for the Scarlet Knights in 2021.

- Fifth-year senior Anyssa Iliopoulos went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
- Graduate student Kiana Workman was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
- Sophomore Jaden Vickers started inside the circle totaling 2.2 innings of work. Graduate student Izzy Berouty earned the loss tossing 2.2 innings.

- Michigan State got two in the top of the second. Snyder was able to sneak home on a Joanna Bartz steal and came home following a Marissa Trivelpiece double to right-center.
- With two outs in the fifth, Rutgers managed to go ahead. Megan Herka walked in a run with the bases loaded leading Kiana Workman to single to center for two RBIs.
- The Spartans, however, powered back in front with six runs on six hits in the bottom of the inning.
- Michigan added two more in the sixth off singles from Camryn Wincher and Kendall Kates.
