No. 8 Men's Lacrosse Welcomes No. 14 Ohio State Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - No. 8 Rutgers men's lacrosse remains home this weekend as RU will host No. 14 Ohio State. The game is Saturday at 5 p.m. and will be televised by Big Ten Network, with Joe Beninati and Mark Dixon on the call. The game will also air on the radio on WRSU (88.7 FM).

The game is Rutgers' fourth straight matchup against a top-15 foe and will be the sixth game in seven contests this season that comes against a team ranked No. 14 or better in the country. The matchup is a battle for second place in the Big Ten, as the Scarlet Knights currently sit in second place with a 4-2 record, followed by the Buckeyes at 3-3.

Rutgers comes into the game off of a 13-9 loss to No. 3 Maryland, who remain undefeated and are the lone team to beat RU this season. In that contest, Rutgers freshman Shane Knobloch had his fifth multi-goal game of the season, and earned his fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week accolade.

The Scarlet Knights posses the number two man-up offense in the country at a 60% conversion rate, and are fourth in the country in turnovers per game. Rutgers averages 15.17 goals per game, seventh in the nation and second in the Big Ten. Kieran Mullins has scored at least one point in 31 straight games dating back to 2018, the 20th longest streak in the nation.

Kieran Mullins enters the game with 112 goals, 95 assists and 207 points in his career. He is currently tied with Jules Heningburg for second all-time at Rutgers in points. He needs one goal to tie for ninth all-time at Rutgers and six assists to tie for seventh all-time at RU. Adam Charalambides enters the game with 126 goals in his career. He needs two goals to tie Ryan O'Shea for fifth all-time at Rutgers.

Rutgers boasts an elite veteran starting attack line. The trio, all of whom are on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, are at least 23 years old and have been in college for at least five years.

Kieran Mullins (5th Year Senior with extra COVID-19 eligibility): 112 Career Goals + 95 Career Assists = 207 Career Points
Adam Charalambides (Graduate Student in 7th Year after 3 medical redshirts): 126 Career Goals + 44 Career Assists = 170 Career Points
Connor Kirst (5th Year Senior as Graduate Transfer from Villanova): 99 Career Goals + 50 Career Assists = 149 Career Points

Ohio State enters the game at 3-3 overall, holding a victory over Johns Hopkins and twice defeating Michigan. The Buckeyes are led by 18 goals and seven assists from Jack Myers, while Tre Leclaire has added 17 goals. Justin Inacio is 78-of-140 (55.7%) on faceoffs, which is second best in the Big Ten, and is 18th nationally with 6.8 ground balls per game. In goal, Skylar Wahlund (.368 save percentage) and Alec Van de Bovenkamp (.485 save percentage) have split time.

Rutgers leads the all-time series with Ohio State 10-3. The Scarlet Knights have defeated Ohio State four times as members of the Big Ten. Each time, OSU has been ranked in the top-ten (third, fourth, sixth and 10th). This will be the 14th meeting dating back to 1953. After the inaugural meeting in 1953, the series was played six times in the 1990s, then resumed when the teams became conference opponents. Earlier this season, Rutgers claimed a 22-12 victory at then No. 6 Ohio state. The offensive output was the team's most goals since 2010, led by five goals from Adam Charalambides and four tallies from Connor Kirst and Shane Knobloch. In 2017, the Scarlet Knights won 15-14 in overtime on a Kieran Mullins game-winner, which remains tied for the highest ranked win in program history.

The game will be the second under new increased venue capacity rules for Rutgers athletics. SHI Stadium will now accommodate a limited number of fans with general public tickets on-sale online.
