• The Scarlet Knights registered one of their biggest wins in program history as they defeated No. 13 Penn State, 17-16, on Thursday afternoon in Piscataway. The victory over the Nittany Lions was the first for RU in the all-time series that dates back to 1978 and served as the team's highest-ranked win since it defeated No. 8 Princeton on Feb. 29, 2012.
• Down 17-16 with 30 seconds left, Penn State held the ball for the final possession with a chance to tie. However, Lytle slid over in front of a cutting Kristin O'Neill and drew a charge to force the PSU turnover and secure the win. The defensive stop capped another comeback victory for RU, as it overcame an early two-goal, second-half deficit courtesy of a 9-6 scoring run down the stretch.
• RU produced a balanced scoring attack against the Nittany Lions, as junior Marin Hartshorn and sophomore Jenna Byrne tallied four goals apiece, while sophomore Cassidy Spilis netted her sixth hat trick of the season.
• Rutgers is No.24 in this week's IWLCA Coaches Poll, marking the eighth consecutive week for RU in the rankings. Rutgers has been ranked as high as No. 14 in the country this season, as second-year head coach Melissa Lehman has the program ranked for the first time since 2013.
• With all seven teams set to qualify for the 2021 Big Ten Tournament, held April 29-May 2 in University Park, the Scarlet Knights are currently tied with Penn State for sixth in the conference standings. A win on Sunday and a loss by PSU to Johns Hopkins would move RU to fifth, as Michigan and JHU still need to play two more games next weekend prior to the conference tournament.
• Sophomores Meghan Ball and Cassidy Spilis were named Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-Americans, announced last week by the publication. Both earned honorable mention distinctions after standout performances to begin the 2021 season, with Ball and Spilis also included on the Tewaaraton Award watch list earlier this spring.
• Senior Taralyn Naslonski now owns 155 career points, tied for Brand Bailey (1994-97) for seventh in the all-time.
• The Terrapins are second in the Big Ten with a 7-4 record after they defeated Johns Hopkins, 9-8, on Wednesday in College Park.
• Hannah Leubecker leads Maryland with 40 points on 39 goals and a helper this season, while Grace Griffin and Catie May has dished out a team-high 13 assists. Lizzie Colson has been the team's top defender this season with 33 caused turnovers in 11 games.
• Emily Sterling owns a 6-4 record in cage for Maryland to go along with a 12.52 goals against average and a .411 save percentage.
• Rutgers dropped a tight 14-12 contest at Maryland last Thursday in College Park. Down 12-9 with 12 minutes to go, the Scarlet Knights rallied to tie the game late before UMD put away back-to-back goals for the win.
• Hartshorn produced a career-high eight points on five assists and three goals against Maryland, as Hartshorn, Hollingsworth and Spilis netted hat tricks against the Terrapins.
• RU's two-goal loss was the closest game the program has played against Maryland in the schools' 21-game series history. Rutgers and Maryland have now met seven times since both joining the Big Ten, with the next closest margin coming in a 14-6 loss in 2018.
