PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore defender Meghan Ball from Rutgers women's lacrosse was added to the Tewaaraton Award watch list, announced Friday afternoon. Ball joins classmate Cassidy Spilis on the prestigious list, which includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award.
In eight games, Ball is third in the Big Ten Conference with 1.75 caused turnovers per game and leads the program in draw controls (27), ground balls (19) and caused turnovers (14). The Raritan, New Jersey, native was named the Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after she combined for 12 draw controls, seven ground balls and six caused turnovers over two games to help the Scarlet Knights earn a sweep of No. 19 Ohio State last month.
Under second-year head coach Melissa Lehman, the Scarlet Knights have already earned their most regular season wins in Big Ten Conference play since joining the league in 2015. Their record includes back-to-back home wins over the Buckeyes and a road win at Johns Hopkins.
Rutgers returns to action on Thursday, April 8 at Maryland. The game will televise live on the Big Ten Network.
