Tennis Picks Up Victory Over Maryland

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers (3-10, 3-10 Big Ten) defeated Maryland (1-12, 1-12 Big Ten) by a score of 4-0 on Friday afternoon at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. The Scarlet Knights picked up the doubles point and three singles victories for the win.
In doubles play, the Scarlet Knights claimed a win at No. 2 spot and a win by default at the No. 3 spot. Junior Tess Fisher and freshman Alisa Prinyarux cruised to a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 doubles position to secure the team point.
Rutgers opened singles with a 2-0 advantage, as redshirt senior Jaci Cochrane won by default at the No. 6 spot. Senior Maya Jacobs captured a strong 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot to extend the RU lead to 3-0.
Fisher then added a 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot to clinch the match and give the Scarlet Knights a 4-0 victory.
Up next, Rutgers remains home to host Iowa on Friday, April 9 and Nebraska on Sunday, April 11.
