
Track and Field Qualifies In 10 Events At NCAA East Regional

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Twelve Scarlet Knights were selected to represent Rutgers track and field at the 2021 NCAA East Regional preliminary from May 26-29. The three-day East preliminary competitions will be hosted at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Rutgers qualified for nine individual events and the men's 4x100-meter relay team.

Taj Burgess will compete in both the 200-meter and 400-meter on the opening day which is comprised of men's events. In the field events, Perry Christie (High Jump), A'nan Bridgett (Long Jump), Adam Hunt (Discus Throw), Joshua Mather (Javelin Throw) and Steve Coponi (Javelin Throw) will represent the Scarlet Knights.
Burgess and Bridgett will join Louis Akpadago and Adebowale Smith in the men's 4x100-meter relay on Friday.
The women's team will compete on Thursday and qualifying for in the field events will be Courteney Campbell (High Jump), Alivia Ash (High Jump), Claudine Smith (Triple Jump), and Alexa Gardner (Javelin Throw).
The qualifiers out of the East and West regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
