Three Men's Lacrosse Alumns Named PLL All-Stars

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's lacrosse will be represented by three alumni in this weekend's Premier Lacrosse League All-Star game. Joe Nardella, Jules Heningburg and Michael Rexrode were named to All-Star game rosters.
Nardella is perennially one of the top faceoff men in the world. This season for the Whipsnakes, he has won 60 percent of his faceoffs and collected 44 ground balls to go with one goal and four assists.
Heningburg is among the top producing offensive players in the league, moving to a midfield role this season for the Redwoods. He is fifth in the PLL with 13 one-point goals, and has added five assists for 18 points.
Rexrode has made his name as a top defenseman during his first PLL season. A Defensive Player of the Week winner following his lockdown performance on Lyle Thompson, Rexrode is fifth in the league with 11 caused turnovers and also has 12 ground balls.
All three PLL all-stars enjoyed highly successful careers 'On the Banks', with each being named an All-American while at Rutgers. Nardella was a third Team All-American, a First Team All-B1G selection, the Big Ten Specialist of the Year and a two-time All-BIG EAST Selection. Heningburg was a two-time All-American and two-time First Team All-Big Ten, ranking third all-time at RU in points. Rexrode was the Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient, two-time All-American, two time First Team All-Big Ten and was the 2018 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
The trio is joined by four other Scarlet Knights in playing professional lacrosse this summer in the PLL. Kyle Pless has joined Rexrode on the Atlas defense with five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Connor Kirst has teamed up with Joe Nardella on the Whipsnakes with three goals through his first three pro games. Christian Mazzone has three goals and two assists for the Archers, while Christian Scarpello has four ground balls for the Waterdogs.
The PLL All-Star Game will be held this Sunday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised by NBC Sports Network and Peacock.
