Women's Lacrosse Welcomes 2022 Freshmen Class

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse head coach Melissa Lehman announced the arrival of the program's 2022 freshmen class. The nine student-athletes include four individuals from the Garden State, three from New York and one each from Maryland and Pennsylvania. 

Makenna Boutin
Wantagh, N.Y. â€¢ Wantagh • Defense

Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Wantagh High School in Wantagh, New York … helped Wantagh to an appearance in the Nassau Class C final during senior season as a standout defender … 2021 team captain … preseason All-Long Island selection by the Long Island LAX Journal … voted a top 100 player on Long Island by New York Newsday as a junior before 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic … secured 42 ground balls and 14 draw controls as a sophomore in 2019 … played club lacrosse with Team Elevate … also competed in volleyball at Wantagh.

Emalie Clothier
Lumberton, N.J. â€¢ Rancocas Valley • Midfield

Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Rancocas Valley … closed out career with 109 points on 89 goals and 20 assists to go along with 59 draw controls … helped the Red Devils to a 13-7 record – including an unblemished 8-0 mark in conference play – and an appearance in the NJSIAA South Jersey, Group IV title game as a senior … finished senior season with 68 points on 55 goals and 13 assists along with 59 draw controls … First Team All-South Jersey and third team all-group by NJ.com … junior season cancelled due to COVID-19 Pandemic … also tallied 32 goals and seven assists as a sophomore in 2019 …competed in basketball at Rancocas Valley.

Alexa Corbin
Miller Place, N.Y. â€¢ Miller Place • Midfield

Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Miller Place High School in Miller Place, New York … finished senior season with 33 points on 28 goals and five helpers … helped her team to 10 victories in 2021 … 2020 season cancelled due to COVID-19 Pandemic … also added 25 goals as a sophomore in 2019.

Caleigh Forti
Towson, Md. â€¢ Mercy • Goalkeeper
 
Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Mercy High School in Baltimore … helped her team to a 14-1 record and an appearance in the B Conference title game … previously assisted her team to three consecutive B Conference titles from 2018-20 … named to the Under Armour 150 team … played club lacrosse with the Phoenix Lacrosse Club … also competed in soccer at Mercy.

Syosset, N.Y. â€¢ St. Anthony’s â€¢ Midfield/Attack
 
Prior to Rutgers: Competed at St. Anthony’s High School in New York … helped the Friars to an undefeated season and a Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Athletic Association (NSCHSAA) title as a senior in 2021 … named a Top 100 Long Island Girls Lacrosse Player by Newsday … junior season cancelled due to COVID-19 Pandemic … produced 18 goals as a sophomore to help St. Anthony’s to a CHSAA title in 2019 … played club lacrosse for Team Elevate … also competed in basketball at St. Anthony’s.

Madison Karpe
West Long Branch, N.J. â€¢ Shore Regional • Defense
 

Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Shore Regional High School …four-year varsity starter … helped the Blue Devils to a 12-6 record and an appearance in the NJSIAA Group I semifinals … scooped up 42 ground balls and tallied 19 draw controls during senior season … earned first team all-division laurels by NJ.com … played club lacrosse with Jersey Shore Select … also competed in basketball and soccer at Shore Regional … and honor student.

Kelsey Klein
Gladstone, N.J. â€¢ Bernards • Midfield/Attack
 
Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Bernards …tallied 117 points on 65 goals and 52 assists during scholastic career … helped Bernards to nine wins and an appearance in the NJSIAA Group I semifinals during senior season in 2021 … led her team in points (72) and assists (41) during senior campaign …an All-Skyland Conference All-Star and second team all-group by NJ.com … junior season cancelled due to COVID-19 Pandemic … scored 30 goals as a sophomore in 2019 … played club lacrosse with T3 North 2021 Black … also a standout cross country and winter track athlete at Bernards, where she earned a state sectional title in the 400m and was a New Balance national qualifier in the 800m.

Victoria Shenk
Atlantic Highlands, N.J. â€¢ Saint John Vianney • Midfield

Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Saint John Vianney … closed out high school career with 209 points on 107 goals and 102 assists to go along with 338 draw controls and 191 ground balls … helped SJV to a 12-7 record and an appearance in the NJSIAA Non-Public, Group A playoffs as a senior … finished senior season with team highs in draw controls (183) and ground balls (111) to go along with 109 points on 64 goals and 45 helpers … her 183 draw controls were second in the state … first team all-division and third team all-non-public by NJ.com â€¦ second team All-Shore Conference by The Asbury Park Press â€¦ junior season cancelled due to COVID-19 Pandemic … tallied 34 assists, 23 goals, 108 draw controls and 34 ground balls as a sophomore in 2019 … played club lacrosse with Jersey Shore Select … also competed in volleyball and soccer at SJV.

Michelle Warren
West Chester, Pa. â€¢ Bishop Shanahan • Midfield/Attack


Prior to Rutgers: Competed at Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown, Pennsylvania … helped the Eagles to a 17-4 record, a PIAA District One 2A title and a top-10 ranking in the state in 2021 … named First Team All-Ches-Mont League by Philly Lacrosse … played club lacrosse with Ultimate/380 Lacrosse … also competed in volleyball in high school.
