Scarlet Knights tabbed seventh nationally by USA Lacrosse Magazine
The publication noted the team's success in the transfer portal, as RU was recently ranked as No. 1 in Inside Lacrosse's Offseason Transfer rankings, while noting that the team was well positioned for another postseason push.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off of a breakthrough campaign in the spring, as the team compiled a 9-4 record that saw the team's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2004. RU took down Lehigh in the opening round, the program's first NCAA Tournament victory since 1990, and pushed No. 1 UNC to the brink in overtime in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Over the course of the season, RU claimed four ranked wins (No. 6 Penn State, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 14 Johns Hopkins, No. 14 Ohio State). The Scarlet Knights had their most ever Big Ten wins, best Big Ten winning percentage and tied for its highest ever finish in the Big Ten standings.
The Scarlet Knights will bring back a ton of returning talent in addition to a great group of newcomers. RU brings back five All-Americans from last season in Colin Kirst, Jaryd Jean-Felix, Shane Knobloch, Ethan Rall and David Sprock, in addition to Big Ten Freshman of the Year Shane Knobloch and the leadership of returning Big Ten Coach of the Year Brian Brecht.
Rutgers spent the majority of the season in the top-ten of the national polls, vaulting to No. 9 in the Coaches Poll following the first week of the season and then staying in the top-ten for the duration of the season. The Scarlet Knights have ascended towards a place among the top teams in the sport and are eager to return to the field for this upcoming season.
